I have a mild case of bipolar. I would suffer from weeks of depression. Then my moods would swing the other direction, sometimes allowing me just 2 hours of sleep per night. I first went to see Jessica for help with a fertility issue: I was 37, wanted to get pregnant, and had ovarian cysts that were preventing ovulation and resisted treatment by Western approaches. I was immediately taken with Jessica’s easygoing and friendly manner. From the first treatment, she was interested in getting to know me as a whole person. Her treatments were gentle—I left them feeling relaxed and energized, not wiped out as I had after visiting some other TCM practitioners—and she was always sensitive to how a given treatment felt while I was undergoing it. Jessica used a combination of acupuncture, heat lamp, moxibustion, and herbal formulas to help bring my body into balance; about six months after beginning treatment, I became pregnant naturally, without really even trying. Now I am the mom of a happy, healthy 14-month-old son. When I met Jessica Silver, L.Ac., I had been having a tightness in my chest which seemed like a big ball of stress, worry and anxiety stuck there. I started acupuncture with Jessica Silver, L.Ac. in December 2007. My husband and I wanted to avoid fertility medications but were unable to conceive after a year of trying. I was not getting my period at all, and was diagnosed 3 years ago with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) and hypothalamic amenorrhea. Jessica was great; she really put my mind at ease. After about 10 weekly acupuncture sessions, herbs, and some dietary changes, I became pregnant in 3.5 months! We weren’t expecting it to happen so fast but my husband and I are really looking forward to meeting our new baby in November!
